About this cookbook

This cookbook is the one Aunt Laura compiled in 2003 as a graduation gift for her niece Kate. The recipes are preserved as she typed them, with the family stories, observations, and edits she added to each one.

A small set of light copy edits has been made where Aunt Laura’s typewriter introduced obvious errors — missing letters, transposed characters, words that ran together. These corrections are the kind she would have made herself if she had the editing tools we now have. Her voice and her choices remain throughout.

Margin notes and handwritten annotations scrawled into the cookbook over the years are not yet captured here — that work is ongoing.
