Browned Rice
DuplicateThis recipe also appears as Browned Rice. Near-identical second copy in the Starches section (page 6) of the recipe at Starches page 5.
Ingredients
- 2 Cups Converted Rice
- 1 Cup Onion Soup [Campbell or Progresso]
- 1/2 Stick Butter
- 1/2 to 1 Soup Can Water
Instructions
Saute the rice in the butter. You want to coat all the rice and slightly brown it. Add the soup and water and bring to a boil. Cover and lower heat to simmer. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes until all liquid is absorbed.
Notes from the kitchen
Adjustments and tips added over the years.
I use brown converted rice sometimes for a deeper color.
A note on the soup.... Campbell's is fine, but if you want more onion taste use Progresso. If you don't like the onion taste use beef consomme instead.
